Dear
Sponsor/NCA Member:
The Northern Illinois
Chinese Association (NCA) invites you and your family members to join the 28th Annual Chinese New Year Banquet, which
will be held at the Holiday Inn Select
Naperville on Saturday, January 25,
2003. Per the Chinese Zodiac, this will celebrate the 4701st
year of the Chinese lunar calendar, the year of the sheep, which symbolizes
people who are born in this year are aesthetic and stylish.
The mission of NCA is to
strengthen the Chinese familyˇ¦s network as well as to enhance Chinese-American
contributions to community. The
major accomplishments of NCA during this year are as follows:
In March 2002, a seminar
was held to discuss several community issues such as:
1)
Relationship
of police and residents - by Chief Police from Naperville Police Office.
2)
How
will the referendum impact Naperville School District 203? By superintendent of Naperville School
District 203.
3)
How
is your property tax determined?
By an officer from Naperville Assessors Office.
4)
Registration
and Election - by an executive from DuPage County Election Commission.
In June 2002, a family outing and picnicwas hosted to celebrate Chinese
Dragon Festival and Fatherˇ¦s Day.
In September 2002, several
hundreds Chinese marched in the Naperville Labor
Day Parade.
Additionally, NCA has been
involved with community volunteers to deliver free lunches to American senior
citizens throughout the year.
The challenge the NCA facing
now is to host a Chinese New Year banquet that is estimated to have over five
hundred guests and many American political attendees. This event is the most important celebration for Chinese and
also a good opportunity to introduce our culture to America. Although NCA does sell dinner tickets
to cover food expenses in the restaurant, we are looking for resources to cover
the cost of entertainment and many items of miscellaneous expenses. It
would be highly appreciated if we can count on your support to make this event
successful. A form
with various contribution options is enclosed. Thank you for your generous donation in advance.
Have a nice and peaceful
ˇ§Year of the Sheepˇ¨.
Sincerely yours,
DorothyLee
President of NCA
